Develop A Support Group To Lose Weight

by admin on September 14, 2007

Losing weight shouldn’t be an exercise in isolation. If you ask around you’ll be surprised to find many people trying to lose weight or follow a healthy lifestyle. Ask them if you all can get together and help each other. Once a few people (even two people will be fine) are ready to work together, chart out a group objective and set individual, realistic goals for all the group members. This way you won’t just be accountable to yourself but to other group members too. Seeing other group members improve or ardently following a regime will be a great motivation.

Lose Weight With Celebration

Set smaller goals and celebrate when all the group members have accomplished them. If the group is big, you can even decide to reward group members for better performance. But make sure no one feels "targeted" or isolated. Losing weight is a hard thing to do and people are sometimes already under great pressure. Some will need their own pace.

Lose Weight With Exposure

Another thing about forming a group is that you are always exposed and you can never indulge in escapisms like not looking at the mirror or not talking to people. When you meet your group members they can easily, without ceremony or sneer, tell you if you are gaining weight instead of losing it.

A friendly group always bolsters your spirit and keeps you focused. Yesterday I wrote about social networks spreading obesity; it can also be the other way round if you are careful about choosing your friends.
