Why being overweight becomes a stigma

by admin on October 6, 2008

Fat people are generally considered lazy people and this is not my personal view.  I think sometimes you cannot help being on the heavier side. Not all kinds of obesity is lifestyle based, sometimes your biological arrangement in your body is like that that you produce fat faster than other people and you cannot be by any extent of logic blamed for this condition.  But many times it is a lifestyle related problem and that is why overweight people become a subject of ridicule (again, this is highly stupid).

Many people think that there is nothing wrong in being overweight and this is an idea that this article aims to promote, and I think such articles and researches are sponsored by companies that sell unhealthy fast foods (unhealthy foods are those that make you needlessly fat) because nobody in his or her right mind would accept being obese as “normal”.  Now I’m not talking about people who generally look large, I am talking about people who really have a weight problem due to the tons of burgers, oily pizzas, aerated beverages, alcohol, and lack of physical activity.  Yes, these people are unhealthy.

People who are heavier just because their bodies are like that are of course not unhealthy and if they are comfortable with the weight and their bones can carry it for the rest of their lives they can keep it that way and nobody has the right to tell them that they are not well or not good-looking.
